I am trying to learn how to read both transits and Dasha effects. I am using my own chart as of now. Please feel free to suggest any reference if it helps.
For instance, how will the Jup/Sat natal position be read with saturn over natal Jup/Sat, and current Jupiter in Saturn's house.

Time - 2100
Place - Kolkata
Current dasha - Ketu>Shukra
Current transit - Sat in 7th, Jup in 11th, Rahu/Ketu - 10/4

“For general mental outlook , take transits from MOON, for health from Lagna and for career consider transits from SUN. A far less time consuming process is check SA transit from SA BAV , MA from MA BAV etc... Wherever you see more than 5-points in the house transited by any planet in their respective BAV the results are excellent, otherwise bad.
Please note that BAV will give you effect of HOUSES only in natal chart. Now you need to see the NATAL planets that are being aspected by transiting planet. These are more worrysome than the houses.
Next, Take the Sudarshan chakra so that you can analyze the impact of transits from ASC/MO/SU in one go.
Finally, look the dasa and antar dasa lord and if they are being aspected by SA/JU in transit the likelihood of the event is significantly increased.
Here is another very good stuff that works very well for me. If you have RA in kendra to ASC Lord AND RA is NOT in ASC, please use the Ashtotari dasa and you will be surprised how well it works. Blend it with transits or BAV and your are done.
If you further want to to time the events then you need to look the transits of planets to the nakshatra, here KP is very good or Tithi Ashtotari dasa.”
