Well, that's the job for everybody who is here in earth to find their own destiny through free will but free will is again driven by sum total of past and present karma. It's chicken and egg and nobody knows the answer. On a similar note why should one bother about it so long as you enjoy best what you are doing. You can find a lot of analyst for this( just like stock market analyst, economists, horoscope analyst etc...) but do they provide solutions? The answer is a plain NO, so the best thing is to get out and take that first step to do the things that you have been postponing.

Fate and Destiny Versus Free Will
from Joni's book - Eastern Astrology for Western Minds

      Upachaya Houses and Will Power
As an astrologer the most common question always revolves around fate and free will. How much of our life is fated or destined, and how much is free will? The answer to this age-old question varies according to who is asked; I don’t think anyone knows for sure except a divine master. I haven’t had the privilege to meet one yet. But for now I will use the best tool I know to find the way through this mystery- astrology. We all know there must be free will or the ability to make choices that can change the future; otherwise we would merely be puppets acting out a script. There would be no purpose or meaning if this world were preplanned, unalterable.

You have just read my mind with this post.

Often, I wonder if my life has been charted before or not. If yes, then why do I pray and work to make it change?

If not, then why can't one get what one has worked hard for?

Don't know if there is any concrete answer to this.

    Take Care!

Your words speak my thoughts on life and Destiny as well. I strongly believe that will is supreme, there are lot of incidents in my life which my birth chart does not reflect any of them. On the other hand, when i had taken an astrological consultation, my thought process started shifting towards the reading done by astrologers thereby making my belief in me less.

Only conclusion I came up with is-- Life is too short to live with restrictions and readings of soothsayers. I want to live life completely with all possibilities, without having to hear astrologer's voice in my head telling me something else.

I am still mending the harm done by several noted astrologers. Let future be a closed book, else the whole idea of living seems like whiling away time till death.

      Regards
      Deepak

    interesting question...

i am also curious if predictions based on charts are sure to happen?
For example if A says X,Y,Z will take place does that mean it will?
Do things that have taken place or going to take place - an indivation of your past / present and future life.
If things are already indicated in the chart then what is the point or working harder / trying harder or not doing anything?

Capitalism is all about business be it counselors, technical analyst, astrology, economics.. and the list goes on and there is nothing wrong about it (all of us need money) so long as somebody keeps paying. It's a ponzi scheme everywhere, fiscal deficit is itself a great legal example. E.g. if you invest in a profit making company with good management then you don't need to be a stock market guru, just forget about stock market and go to sleep, you will wake up a rich person someday. Again, if you fear almighty and living life without fear and greed then I see no reason why you cannot do what you want out of life. It's the fault within oneself which creates aberrations, and once you identify that you and only you can fix it. Yes, you can always consult an astrologer, counselor, economist etc.. but just to get some additional knowledge about your unknown blind spots. It has nothing to do with destiny or freewill, it’s just the balanced simplicity of mind. Treat everything like an art ( not a science ), if you really like some keep it or throw the rest away. Don’t let somebody’s freewill guide your destiny.

        Beautifully said Bhuwanji !

May I also suggest a book called Aghora by Robert Svobada.
IIn addition to dealing with tantra , this book deals with the questions that a normal person looks for inside him , destiny , free will and also a host of other topics . A very enjoyable read if you have the "faith" :-)

Apologies if I offend anyone .
