Guru and Shukra in the same house

topic posted Thu, December 28, 2006 - 9:21 AM by  Indu
What are the effects of Guru and Shukra(venus) placed in the same house?
Will they nullify each others effects?
In my chart these two planets are in 5th house (Meena/Pisces) from the Lagna(scorpio).

Jupiter is considered Guru of Positive forces while Venus is considered Guru / teacher of negative forces aka demons.

Both are benefics in them selves and treat each other with respect.

They do not nullify each other but alter the outcome of each other depending on their lordship in native charts.

The effects r simple.shukra in meena gets exalted and thus it will drive toward love affairs in venus mahadasha if it comes in youth.Guru will provide purity to love affairs in it's dashas.

      It is called Dwi-guru yoga.

      It has many meanings.

One is: Most people are concerned with love and dating from Puberty to about 30. Then they get more serious on other aspects of their life. When Venus is in sambandha with Jupiter (the tighter the sambandha the more intense) then the person continues with a large focus on dating and love till they are 50. This is Because the naisargika dasha of Venus is Puberty till 30 and then Jupiter is 30 to 50. Jupiter dasha is generally a focus on fullfilling the dharma of ones life, but when it is in Sambandha with Venus these years still have a relationship orientation.

I'de think this would be especially true for a scorpio lagna, with venus ruling the 7H of sex and marriage and jupiter ruling the 5H of love affairs.

5th house is for progeny right? Does both 5th house and 7th house needs to be considered for marriage and not only 7th house?

5th house represents Poorva (Janma) Punya- religious merit accumulated from past birth(s). It is the Bhavath Bhavam of 9th house (of dharma incl. religion). So what are the main aspects shown by poorva punya? Inner happiness (incl. contentment), all forms of creativity (main creation is procreation - from survival viewpoint- thus progeny), lottery mega prizes (sum of 'all' the money owed to you from last births - not mini-strokes of luck), capability (not achievements) of doing things and so on.

7th house is Kalathra sthaanaa - spouse, any partner for that matter.

Furthermore, one should look at D-7 (sapthamsa - environment for progeny) since progeny is the tangible and direct result of sex, whereas for marital bliss, one should look at D-9, Navamsa- the division dealing with the environment of Dharma!

As per Hindu/Vedic system, marriage is a dharma. It is the second stage of dharmic life of a normal individual (within 6sigma of human population, say). The four stages are: Brahmacharya, Grahastha, Vaanaprastha and sanyasa. Thats why wife is referred to as 'Saha dharmani' - partner in carrying on dharma. Sex(ual happiness) is just a by-product of marriage.

When looking into marriage compatibility (incl. porutham), sexual compatibility is just one of 10 compatibilities. It is referred to as 'Yoni porutham' , Yoni literally meaning female genital. although it is important, it does not rank among the top ones, in the viewpoint of many, since the longer lifespan of partners, for example, is viewed as more important than sexual intimacy. This perhaps reflects the culture and outlook of Indian marriages at least till recent past.

If ground reality changes, with respect to outlook among the masses/individuals esp. with respect to sex (example, influence of newly arrived viagra in the market), I wonder whether a presnt day Jyothishi may have to accordingly allocate bigger weighting factor or perhaps ask an individual how he would rate the various things that he expects from marriage rather than deciding based on the wisdom of sages! The only reason I am saying this, is due to the changes in the marriage system and span among different cultures and at different times within a same culture!

I did not mean to poke into hornet's nest or trivialize the Vedanga; just a contemporary look at it, perhaps...

BTW, I have barely scratched basic aspects of 5th , 7th houses, D7 and D9 in this mail; I inderstand.

9th house relates to romance in regards to the fact that it is 11th from the don't just jump into the 7th house with you, they have to have a little romance to gain that favor. In a place that traditionally supports arranged marriages there are still love marriages that take place, this is predicted according to the sambandha of the 5th and 7th lords.

There are many systems of compatability, of which marraige is put on different levels of importance. Compatability among Kutas is possible to remedy, but sexuality according to the navamsa is much harder to remedy- if one peron is bi-sexual or into S&M and the other person is gentle and dharmic- they will have major problems. All these combinations are found in the scripures, meaning they are not new, even if you think they are.

freedom: "9th house relates to romance in regards to the fact that it is 11th from the 7th"

did you mean to say the 5th house? - the 11th from the 7th is the 5th which is generally related to romance --

i have never seen the 11th house as a romantic house - ambitious, motivated toward desires, but not romantic at all..

If you approach a potential partner with an 11th house mindset they are likely to feel like just another conquest,, it is opposite the care, creativity and luck of the 5th house.

There could be problems to the 5th house during Jupiter/Venus dasa. This is because these two grahas together will be enemies to each other. Venus/Jupiter will not be bad, because Jupiter only helps grahas it conjoins to improve the house they are in. But the other way, Venus can hurt Jupiter and the 5th. So Jupiter/Venus may be bad for children, as well as for maintaining health practices (since its in the rasi/body chart - 5th house indicates continuity in any varga).

It is an interesting combination and I have really not found a fully satisfying answer. The reason I say it is because, I also have a Jupiter + Venus (exhalted) in pisces, which in my case is in the 10th house from Gemini Lagna. Venus is my 5th and 12th lord and Jupiter is my 7th and 10th lord.
This means, Venus is in exhaltation and Jupiter in his own house....

Any answers here will be welcome !!!
